How the Scaler SST Admission Process Works — 2026
From your first application to receiving your offer letter: a clear, step-by-step walkthrough of exactly what happens and what to expect at each stage.
The 5-Step Process
Every applicant goes through these stages in order. Read each step carefully — there are details that catch first-time applicants off guard.
Check Eligibility
Verify you meet the age and academic criteria: under ~20 years old as of mid-2026, Class XII completed or in progress, and 60%+ in Mathematics.
Submit Application Online
Fill in your personal and academic details, pay the application fee, record a short video essay about why you want to join, then schedule your NSET slot and interview.
- Pay the ₹1,000 application fee (₹500 with code ARIYD8B6)
- Record a short video essay on your motivation
- Schedule your NSET slot after submitting
Clear NSET or Qualify via Fast Track
Either sit for the NSET exam (up to 3 attempts per academic year) or skip it entirely if you have qualifying JEE or SAT scores.
Two Interview Rounds
Both rounds focus on mathematical reasoning, communication, and motivation. Each candidate can attempt the interview round up to 2 times per academic year.
- Round 1: AI-led interview (built to simulate Scaler co-founder Anshuman Singh) — assesses mathematical reasoning and communication
- Round 2: Human interview with working tech professionals — focuses on mathematical reasoning and motivation for joining
Note: Each candidate can attempt the interview round up to 2 times per academic year.
Admission Decision
Scaler states results are typically shared within 7–10 days of the interview. You will be either Accepted or Rejected.
Timeline (Scaler's stated estimate): Results are typically shared within 7–10 days of the interview. Candidates receive either an Accepted or Rejected decision.
Skip NSET with JEE or SAT Scores
If you already have qualifying scores from JEE or SAT, you can bypass the NSET exam entirely and go straight to the interview rounds. Here are the exact thresholds:
JEE-based Fast Track
- JEE Overall 92 percentile or above
- JEE Mathematics 95 percentile or above
- JEE Physics 95 percentile or above
Any one of these three JEE criteria qualifies you.
SAT-based Fast Track
- SAT Overall score of 1430 or above
How it works: During the application form, you'll be asked if you want to use Fast Track. If your scores qualify, you skip the NSET booking step and proceed directly to scheduling your interviews.
Important Rules to Know
Rescheduling
You can reschedule your NSET slot once, for a ₹200 fee, up to 24 hours before your scheduled slot.
Reapplying
If you reapply for a new NSET cycle, your previous application and score are voided. Only your most recent attempt counts.
NSET Attempts
You get up to 3 NSET attempts per academic year (roughly once per month). Each attempt requires paying the application fee again.
Interview Attempts
The interview round (both rounds) can be attempted up to 2 times per academic year.
Use this code during NSET registration
Saves you 50% on the ₹1,000 application fee — you pay ₹500 instead.
