Scaler NSET Eligibility Criteria — 2026
Everything you need to know about who qualifies to apply to Scaler School of Technology, and how the NSET entrance exam works.
Quick Eligibility Checklist
You need to satisfy all of these criteria to be eligible. Read the notes carefully — the age cutoff has a nuance.
Completed (or will complete) Class XII in 2026 or earlier
Under approximately 20 years old as of mid-2026
Scaler's own pages list slightly different cutoff dates — June 30, 2026 on their FAQ vs July 1, 2026 on their admission page. Confirm the exact cutoff for your specific intake on Scaler's official admission page, as it varies slightly by source and by intake cycle.
Mathematics was a subject in your Class XII
Scored above 60% in Class XII Mathematics
Have passed (or will pass) your Class XII final exams
Important: Open to all streams — science, commerce, and arts. You do not need to have studied all science subjects, but Mathematics is required.
NSET Exam — At a Glance
The NSET (National Scaler Entrance Test) is the entrance exam you need to clear to proceed to interviews. Here's exactly how it works.
Format
Online, fully proctored
Device Required
PC or laptop with a working webcam — mobile phones are NOT allowed
Duration
2 hours (120 minutes)
Sections
Mathematics + Aptitude & Logical Reasoning
Cutoff Policy
Each section has its own individual cutoff — strong performance in one section does NOT compensate for failing the other
Attempts Allowed
Up to 3 NSET attempts per academic year (roughly once per month until exhausted)
Results
Typically released within ~2 weeks of the exam (Scaler's stated timeline)
Rescheduling
Allowed once, for a ₹200 fee, up to 24 hours before your slot
Reapplying
Voids your previous NSET application and score — only your latest attempt counts
The Individual Cutoff Rule — Critical to Understand
NSET has two separate sections — Mathematics and Aptitude & Logical Reasoning — each with its own cutoff score. Scoring very well in Mathematics does not compensate for failing the Aptitude section's cutoff, and vice versa. You must clear both section cutoffs independently.
